SeaFormat
Maritime opportunities, matched and applied to — from Telegram. Opportunities from across the industry, filtered to your rank and fleet, with the covering letter written for you and the application sent from your own email address.
Free to start · No CV website to fill in · Works entirely inside Telegram
What SeaFormat is
SeaFormat is a job-hunting assistant for seafarers, running as a Telegram bot (@SeaformatBot). Finding work at sea normally means checking a dozen crewing sites and channels every week, rewriting the same letter, and emailing it to each agency by hand. SeaFormat does that work for you.
You tell it your rank, the vessel types you sail, your experience and when you are available. It then watches maritime job boards and industry channels, shows you only the openings that fit, drafts the covering letter for each one, attaches your CV, and sends the application from your own mailbox once you approve it. Every application is kept in one history so you know what you sent and where.
What it does
Everything from finding the opportunity to landing the application in the agency's inbox.
Opportunities in one feed
Openings gathered from maritime job boards and industry Telegram channels, de-duplicated so you never read the same post twice.
Matched to your profile
Filtered by rank, vessel type, experience, salary expectation and when you can join — with a match score so the best fits come first.
Covering letters written for you
A tailored letter for each opportunity, referencing your rank and experience. Edit it, rewrite it, or send it as it stands.
Applications from your own email
Sent from your address, not a shared robot mailbox, with your CV attached — so replies come straight back to you.
Maritime CV upload and builder
Upload your Maritime CV and it fills in your Career Profile automatically, or build a clean maritime CV from your profile and export it as PDF or Word.
Documents and expiry reminders
Keep your certificates on file and get reminded 90, 30 and 7 days before one expires — no more discovering it the week you sign on.
Auto Apply, on your terms
Switch it on and SeaFormat applies to strong matches for you, within the daily limit you set and never to companies you have blacklisted. Off by default, off again whenever you like.
SeaFormat Selected
Hand-picked openings reviewed by our team and pushed only to the crew they actually suit.
Application History
Every application — sent by you or automatically — logged with the opportunity, the letter and the date.
Saved Opportunities
Save any opportunity to your personal list with one tap — review and apply later, from the bot or the Web App.
Scam flagging
Postings that ask for payment or look too good for the rank are flagged before you waste your time on them.
English and Russian
The whole bot, including the letters it writes, in either language.
Telegram, nothing to install
No account to create and no app to download — it runs in the Telegram you already have, on any phone.
How it works
About a minute to set up, then it runs in the background.
Tell it who you sail as
Rank, vessel types, years in rank, minimum salary and when you are free. Four short steps of buttons — no forms.
Add your Maritime CV
Upload the one you have and it reads the details into your Career Profile, or let SeaFormat build a Maritime CV for you.
Get matched openings
New opportunities that fit your profile arrive in Telegram as they are found. No feed to trawl.
Apply in two taps
Read the drafted letter, press send, and it goes from your mailbox with your CV attached — or open the opportunity and apply yourself.
Your mailbox, your control
Applications get further when they come from the seafarer's own address rather than a shared robot mailbox, so SeaFormat sends from yours. You can connect Gmail in one tap, use any other provider over SMTP, or skip it entirely and send applications yourself.
If you connect Gmail, SeaFormat asks for one permission
only: gmail.send — permission to send a message.
It cannot read, list, search or download your inbox, your sent mail, or any message in your account. It has no access to your contacts, your Drive, or anything else in your Google account. The only thing it can do is send an application you have set up.
Nothing is ever sent without your say-so: either you approve each
application individually, or you switch on auto-apply and it works to the
limits you set. You can disconnect the mailbox in the bot at any time with
/email, or revoke access directly at
myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Your credentials are encrypted at rest, and
/deletedata in the bot erases your Career Profile, documents,
Saved Opportunities and stored mailbox access straight away. Full detail is in our
Privacy Policy.
Who it's for
Deck and engine officers, ratings and cadets — from Master and Chief Engineer through to OS, Wiper and first-trip cadets, plus catering crew and offshore specialists.
Across bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, gas carriers, general cargo, Ro-Ro and car carriers, passenger and cruise ships, offshore vessels (OSV, AHTS, PSV), tugs and yachts.

Questions
Does SeaFormat read my email?
No. If you connect Gmail, the only permission requested is
gmail.send. Reading, listing and downloading messages are
separate permissions that SeaFormat never asks for and cannot use.
Do I have to connect a mailbox?
No. You can read your matched opportunities, use the drafted letters and apply yourself. Connecting a mailbox just saves you the copying and pasting.
Where do the opportunities come from?
Public maritime job boards and industry Telegram channels, plus openings reviewed by our own team. Postings come from third parties, so always check an offer before acting on it.
Will it send applications without asking me?
Only if you turn on Auto Apply, which is off unless you switch it on. Even then it stays inside the daily limit you choose, never applies to the same opportunity twice, and skips any company you have blacklisted.
Can I delete everything?
Yes — /deletedata in the bot removes your Career Profile, your
uploaded documents, your stored mailbox access and your Saved Opportunities. Application
History is kept (it holds no personal data beyond what you applied to).
What does it cost?
You can use SeaFormat free. The paid plans — Starter, Pro and Premium — are monthly or annual subscriptions, cancellable at any time from the bot; the current price is shown before you pay.
